Pay Range

Pay Range $1,440 per credit hour

Salary offers at Syracuse University will be based on education, experience, and relevant skills, as well as the academic or professional discipline of the position in the context of the home department, school, or college. Salary offers may also be influenced by prior relevant work or industry experience, where applicable. Faculty pay ranges are for 8.5 months’ salary unless otherwise specified.

Job Description

Human Development and Family Science is seeking a part-time instructor to teach HFS 255 (3 credits) Interpersonal Competence during the Spring 2026 semester.

Course

Description:

Interpersonal problem-solving skills. Helping theories appropriate to human development settings. Skills and behaviors that apply theory to practice setting.

The hiring rate of pay for the successful candidate will be determined based on their per-credit-rate history within the hiring department.

All course offerings are subject to funding availability and enrollment.

Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree or PhD, and previous teaching experience.

Responsibilities

  • Developing and/or updating a class syllabus.
  • Ordering the appropriate books and materials in advance of the class
  • Preparing lectures, projects or other student assignments.
  • Maintaining regularly scheduled office hours of two hours per week.
  • Presenting instruction based on the competencies and performance
  • levels of the class.
  • Meeting all designated class periods. If you are unable to meet with your
  • class due to illness or emergency, you should exercise your best effort to
  • reschedule the class or to obtain a substitute. You must also notify the
  • department chair or their designated contact of your absence and of your plan to
  • cover the class.
  • Working with the academic unit to maintain student learning outcomes.
  • Submitting completed final grades according to University regulations.
  • Grading student assignments and exams in a timely manner.
  • Providing departmentally sanctioned forms for completed student
  • evaluations.
  • Completing all other course-related duties as outlined by your
  • department’s policies for part-time instructors.
