Under the general supervision of the Child Development Supervisor, the Home Visitor provides comprehensive early childhood education and family support services through home-based visits to families enrolled in the Early Head Start Home-Based Program. The Home Visitor partners with parents and caregivers to promote children's healthy development, strengthen parenting skills, and support school readiness through individualized educational activities, family engagement, and community resource coordination.

Responsibilities
  • Maintain an assigned caseload of approximately twelve (12) families.
  • Conduct weekly home visits with enrolled families, providing a minimum of 1½-hour educational visits designed to promote children's cognitive, social, emotional, language, and physical development.
  • Plan and facilitate twice-monthly group socialization activities for enrolled children and their families.
  • Develop and implement individualized lesson plans using the program's approved curriculum based on each child's developmental needs.
  • Conduct developmental observations, ongoing assessments, and maintain individualized educational plans for each child.
  • Coach and support parents in implementing developmentally appropriate learning activities within the home environment.
  • Educate families on child growth and development, positive parenting practices, health, nutrition, safety, and available community resources.
  • Foster family engagement by encouraging parents to actively participate in their child's learning and development.
  • Maintain accurate case records, attendance, assessments, home visit documentation, and other required reports in accordance with program requirements.
  • Participate in parent meetings, Home Base Committee meetings, trainings, conferences, and professional development activities.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary staff, including Health, Nutrition, Disabilities, Mental Health, Family Services, and Parent Engagement staff, to coordinate comprehensive services.
  • Conduct safety inspections of facilities used for group socialization activities.
  • Plan and supervise family field trips and educational activities.
  • Communicate effectively with families in their primary language whenever possible.
  • Provide classroom support or substitute in center-based classrooms when operational needs require.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned to support the successful implementation of the MAOF Early Head Start Program.
Requirements
  • Home Visitor II: Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or a closely related field from an accredited college or university, and possession of a valid California Child Development Teacher Permit (or higher).
  • Home Visitor I: Associate degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or a closely related field from an accredited college or university, and possession of a valid California Child Development Associate Teacher Permit (or higher).
  • Minimum of twenty-four (24) semester units in Early Childhood Education and/or Child Development.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of paid experience working with infants, toddlers, preschool-aged children, or families in an early childhood education setting.
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational, time management, and documentation skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other computer applications.
  • Valid California Driver's License, reliable transportation, and proof of current automobile liability insurance.
  • Must successfully complete all pre-employment health requirements, including a physical examination, Tuberculosis (TB) clearance, required immunizations (influenza, pertussis, and measles), and any required drug screening.
  • Must obtain and maintain criminal background clearance through the FBI, DOJ, and CACI as a condition of employment.
  • Regular attendance is required. This position requires frequent local travel to conduct home visits, attend meetings, trainings, and community activities.
