Yourpace Academic Success Coach
The University of Maine at Presque Isle (UMPI) is seeking to hire two Your Pace Academic Success Coaches.
The Your Pace Academic Success Coach serves as the primary point of contact for students from the point of matriculation through graduation, providing seamless, student-centered support across the entire enrollment and academic journey. This role combines proactive outreach, degree planning, and academic coaching to promote student persistence, retention, and success—particularly during the early stages of the student experience.
The Coach supports students in navigating University policies and systems, connects them to resources, and helps them develop the skills and confidence necessary for success in the Your Pace learning model. Working collaboratively with faculty, staff, and administrators across departments, the Coach ensures that each student receives timely, accurate, and personalized guidance.
Work is conducted in a collaborative environment, with remote, hybrid, or in-person work options determined in consultation with the successful candidate. Occasional travel to campus may be required for training or events. The standard schedule is Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. EST and will require some nights and weekends.

The salary for this full time job is $45,300.32. The university will take into consideration the salary of current UMS employees for transfer/promotion depending on skills and experience. Additional benefits include medical, retirement, dental, vision, and tuition waiver programs for employees and dependents. Required Qualifications , Knowledge, and
Skills:
- Bachelor's degree and 3–5 years of experience in a professional setting, such as advising, counseling, admissions, tutoring, education, or customer service.
- Exceptional interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to build rapport and motivate students.
- Proven organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Ability to interpret and explain academic policies and degree requirements.
- Experience with Microsoft Office Suite, Google Workspace, and communication technologies (e.g., Zoom).
- Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and FERPA compliance.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, student-centered environment.
- Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to addressing student needs.
- For remote/hybrid work: reliable high-speed internet (minimum 25 Mbps) and a dedicated, private workspace that meets confidentiality requirements.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's Degree.
- Five or more years of experience in higher education or student success roles.
- Experience working with adult learners or competency-based education models.
- Familiarity with University of Maine System technologies, including Maine Street and Bright Space.
