St. Peter Catholic School in Kirkwood is seeking reliable, flexible, and faith-filled Substitute Teachers to provide instructional continuity and maintain a positive learning environment in the absence of the regular classroom teacher. The Substitute Teacher is responsible for implementing lesson plans, supervising students, managing classroom behavior, and supporting the academic, social, and spiritual development of students. The ideal candidate demonstrates professionalism, adaptability, and a commitment to the mission and values of Catholic education.
Job Responsibilities- Implement lesson plans and instructional activities provided by the classroom teacher.
- Maintain a safe, positive, and productive classroom environment.
- Supervise students throughout the school day and enforce school policies and procedures.
- Facilitate learning activities and assist students with assigned coursework.
- Manage classroom behavior using appropriate and consistent practices.
- Communicate relevant information regarding student performance, behavior, and classroom activities to school administration and the regular teacher.
- Adapt effectively to different grade levels, subject areas, and classroom settings.
- Follow all school safety, confidentiality, and student welfare guidelines.
- Support school activities and duties as assigned during the substitute assignment.
- Uphold and support the mission, values, and teachings of St. Peter Catholic School.
- High school diploma required; associate’s or bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Previous experience working with children or in an educational setting preferred.
- Ability to follow lesson plans and maintain instructional continuity.
- Strong classroom management and organizational skills.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with faculty, staff, students, and families.
- Professional demeanor, flexibility, and dependability.
- Ability to pass all required background checks and comply with diocesan safe environment requirements.
- Practicing Catholic preferred; all candidates must respect and support the mission and values of Catholic education.
