The Department of Secondary Education within the School of Education at GGC invites applications for a Visiting Lecturer position to teach undergraduate courses in Middle Grades Education and Secondary Teacher Certification Programs during the  school year. Preference will be given to candidates with content area expertise in English language arts, mathematics, history, or science. This position is a full-time temporary position tied to a one year contract.

The successful candidate will have knowledge of best practices in middle grades classrooms and experience with supervising teacher candidates in field experiences. This individual will teach in the secondary education programs and professional responsibilities may include teaching courses, providing field supervision, student advising, and service. This is a non-remote position (on-campus) with an anticipated start date of August 1, 2026.

Salary is commensurate with education and experience.

• 1 - Developing course curricula, including the syllabus, lesson plans, and graded assignments, in accordance with the requirements of the upper division program and in consultation with the Associate Provost for Academic Affairs.
• 2 - Reviewing, evaluating and recommending student learning materials.
• 3 - Evaluating students to measure their progress in achieving institutional and course goals.
• 4 - Supporting students through academic advising and mentoring.
• 5 - Timely and accurate submission of required paperwork related to instruction.
• 6 - Engaging is professional service to support the program, department, and school.

• Master of Education in Middle Grades Education or a Secondary Content Area (e.g., English language arts, mathematics, history, or science)
• Previous experience as a K-12 middle grades or secondary education teacher; and a K-12 educator license in special education
• Commitment to teaching undergraduate courses during the day, night and/or Saturdays
• Commitment to teaching, service, and student success

• Doctorate in Education, Middle Grades Education or a Secondary Content Area; and a K-12 educator license
• Experience in middle grades classrooms and experience with supervising teacher candidates in field experiences
• Experience teaching face-to-face, online, hybrid and/or blended formats
• Familiarity and experience with the GaPSC and teacher certification requirements in Georgia

• Ability to perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodations
• Evidence of effective communication and interpersonal skills
