Pay Range: $2,250 per credit course
Pay Determination:
Salary offers at Syracuse University will be based on education, experience, and relevant skills, as well as the academic or professional discipline of the position in the context of the home department, school, or college. Salary offers may also be influenced by prior relevant work or industry experience, where applicable. Faculty pay ranges are for 8.5 months' salary unless otherwise specified.

Description:
This course examines fundamental principles that guide strategic communications professionals and audiences in contemporary society. Topics include professional roles and ethical obligations, audience analysis and segmentation, message framing and representation in media, and communication strategies across communities and stakeholder groups. Modern Principles of Strategic Communications equips students to examine what makes communication and collaboration difficult in organizations and to build strategies for stronger, more cohesive teams.
Students explore how individual perspective and experience shape communication, decision-making, and workplace relationships, and how those dynamics play out in media and organizational life. Through active discussion and engagement with viewpoints different from their own, students develop the skills to communicate and collaborate effectively across differences, preparing them to lead within a complex, multi-perspective professional landscape.
Qualifications:
Master's or Doctoral degree preferred. Significant teaching and/or professional experience in the field.

Demonstrated familiarity with frameworks such as social identity theory, hegemony, implicit bias, intersectionality, and the dynamics of stereotyping, prejudice, and discrimination Teaching experience / research background / professional experience applying these frameworks to media, advertising, public relations, or organizational communication Ability to facilitate discussion across differing viewpoints / critique brand and workplace case studies through this lens / design assessments that require students to apply these concepts to real content Online teaching experience preferred.
Responsibilities:
It is understood that teaching assignments may include the following:
View the asynchronous content in advance of each weekly live session. Conduct discussions for each week's live session. Be available to meet for these discussions on the online platform provided. Follow guidance of coordinator on topics related to the asynchronous material, student questions and progress, assignments, and exams, and the introduction of timely topical news and information that may apply to course concepts, relevant case studies and articles.
Additional responsibilities include:
Meet all designated class periods. Maintain regularly scheduled office hours. Grade any assignments and exams in a timely manner based on instructions/rubrics provided. Submit completed mid-semester progress reports and final grades according to University regulations. Attend immersion sessions, if invited, when offered.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to instruct the class on the online platform on the days it is designated to meet. Ability to hold office hours. Ability to grade all assignments and examinations.
