** Schreyer Honors College is seeking applications for a graduate level counseling internship with a focus on career counseling.  The individual in this role will provide primarily in-person career counseling services to students.  Students seek assistance developing internship and job search strategies, building strategic resumes, cover letters, Linked In profiles, and application statements.  Students also seek assistance preparing for interviews, researching and applying for graduate and professional programs, and making choices from among multiple career options.

Students benefit from a counselor who can be a thought-partner in developing strategies, identifying resources, and designing an action plan that students can use to achieve their career goals.  Further, students are well served by a counselor who can address some of the personal stressors that accompany career decisions and the pursuit of career goals.  Supervision for this internship is provided by the Director of Career Development within Schreyer Honors College, and the person in this role is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and has more than 20 years of career counseling experience at Penn State.
It is hoped that the intern will be able to provide up to 20 hours of employment per week, with most of that time dedicated to 1:1 student career counseling appointments.

There are opportunities for forming career counseling groups and also leading and mentoring students through providing workshops that facilitate personal reflection and career growth.  Additional components of the internship include career counseling preparation, investigating resources, writing career counseling notes, contributing to career presentations and other Schreyer Honors College events and meetings, and engaging in weekly individual supervision.  This internship will meet the requirements for a CACREP internship experience.
