Job Summary

The University of Colorado Boulder is searching for a Computer Science Online Graduate Program Specialist! This role serves as the advisor for online graduate students, currently Masters students using the Coursera platform, within the College of Engineering and Applied Science at CU Boulder (the MS-CS and MS-AI degrees). This position is responsible for proactive outreach and communication to prospective and current students.

The position informs and advises students on degree requirements and tracks their progress towards fulfilling them; advises students about the nature and content of the program's curricula; helps prepare students to be successful in their degree program and take advantage of professional development, and community-building opportunities.

The Computer Science Department is committed to developing collaborative, student-centered relationships between Graduate Program Specialists and graduate students that support achievement of academic success, and promote personal and professional development of students. The role supports students through a developmental, student-focused approach. This position developes and implements advising strategies and interventions to enhance the performance and persistence of students, supporting the graduate education mission of the Computer Science online program in a scalable way.

What Your

Key Responsibilities Will Be

Academic Advising/Student Support

  • Tracking student progress by maintaining student records.
  • Maintaining and updating degree plans, advising online students regarding academic requirements and options for completing them, staying current regarding changing curriculum. Uses degree audit system as appropriate.
  • Reviewing and processing student requests and ensuring students receive communication and responses in a timely manner.
  • Helping students with course registration issues as needed, including requests for late registration/changes or leave of absence.
  • Serving as online student liaison with the CS staff and faculty, communicating student petitions, as needed.
  • Serving as the first contact for current students with questions or concerns. Assists students with problem-solving and campus resources. Brings appeals or grievances to Senior Graduate Program Manager as appropriate.
  • Creating documents/systems that can support a large group of students to scale.

Recruitment, Admissions and Communication

  • Collaborates with other CS department staff to ensure information on the graduate program website is accurate, compelling, and up-to-date. Keeps recruitment materials updated.
  • Acts as the main point of contact in online recruitment meetings and collaborates on ways to reach a more diverse audience, including attending recruitment events.
  • Manages degree conferral process and processes degree conferrals at the end of every session.
  • Sends regular messages through the Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system, including timelines, announcements, etc.
  • Conducts visual compliance of other mandated reports.
  • Assists in webinars and other recruitment efforts.
  • Advocates for student services and notifies students of upcoming opportunities, specifically to create community within the online student population.
  • Assists in planning online student events, including graduation recognition ceremonies.

Other

  • Supports the AI and CS online program with events, talks, diversity and inclusion efforts and other projects as needed.
