BARGAINING UNIT / SALARY LEVEL:
This position is classified at Level 4D, with a salary of $63,393.94 and full benefit package commensurate with the Agreement between the MCCS Trustees and the MEA Administrators Unit. In addition, we offer a hybrid work schedule that allows for remote work one day per week, promoting flexibility and work-life balance. This is an in person, on campus position.

POSITION SUMMARY:

York County Community College (YCCC), a dynamic institution committed to transforming lives and strengthening communities through education, is seeking an innovative and collaborative Instructional Designer to join our team. This position plays a vital role in the development, design, implementation, and continuous improvement of high-quality instructional materials and learning experiences that support both credit and non-credit programs.

Working collaboratively with faculty, instructors, subject matter experts, employers, and other internal and external partners, the Instructional Designer applies evidence-based instructional design principles, educational technologies, and accessibility standards to create engaging, effective, and inclusive learning experiences. The position supports curriculum development, instructional innovation, technology integration, faculty development, and continuous improvement initiatives that promote student success, workforce readiness, and institutional excellence.

They will remain current with emerging instructional design practices, educational technologies, accessibility requirements, and learning science while supporting faculty and instructors in delivering engaging, equitable, and effective instruction across multiple instructional modalities.

As a member of the YCCC community, the Instructional Designer will help foster a culture of innovation, inclusion, and excellence by promoting instructional best practices, supporting continuous quality improvement, and advancing the College's strategic priorities through collaborative partnerships and a shared commitment to student success.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Include but are not limited to the following;

Instructional Design and Course Development

  • Collaborate with faculty, instructors, subject matter experts, employers, and other stakeholders to analyze learning needs and align with measurable learning outcomes.
  • Design, develop, revise, and maintain engaging instructional materials and strategies for credit and non-credit offerings across multiple instructional modalities.
  • Lead and support the ongoing development and maintenance of master courses and standardized instructional resources.
  • Incorporate evidence-based instructional strategies, authentic assessment techniques, and educational technologies into course design.
  • Apply Universal Design for Learning (UDL), accessibility standards, and inclusive teaching practices throughout the instructional design process.
  • Remain current on instructional design research, emerging technologies, accessibility requirements, and educational best practices, incorporating innovations into course design as appropriate.

Collaboration, Consultation, and Faculty/Instructor Support

  • Serve as an instructional design consultant to faculty, instructors, academic departments, workforce programs, and external partners.
  • Collaborate with instructional teams to ensure consistency, quality, and alignment across instructional offerings.
  • Participate in curriculum development, revision, and program improvement initiatives.
  • Provide individual consultations, workshops, and training that promote effective teaching, course design, educational technology, and instructional best practices.
  • Collaborate on college-wide and Maine Community College System initiatives, including master course development, microcredentials, workforce training, and other strategic instructional projects.
  • Build collaborative relationships with employers and community partners to support workforce education initiatives when appropriate.
  • Document progress regularly.
