520.1 Orange Collective Vocal Jazz Ensemble/Orange Syndicate Vocal Jazz Ensemble, a one credit hour course, during the Fall & Spring semesters, 2026-27. Artist/Part-Time Instructor of Jazz/Commercial Vocal Ensemble. Qualifications:
A minimum of a master's degree in music (jazz or commercial voice performance or equivalent experience preferred). Experience teaching jazz and commercial music at the collegiate level. Jazz/Commercial Music/Performance credentials. Significant piano skills required including ability to accompany students in ensemble settings. Jazz/Commercial Vocal Ensemble directing experience.

Responsibilities:
Being present and instructing as needed:
Orange Collective (Monday/Wednesday 12:45-2:05 PM – Fall), and Orange Syndicate (Monday/Wednesday 12:45-2:05 – Spring) meeting two days per week as indicated, in the Fall/Spring semesters. Set up performance schedule. Attend jazz faculty orientation meeting, and jazz faculty meetings throughout the semester (approximately 3 per semester). Prepare and attend ensemble performances as indicated in School of Music calendar Develop and/or update a class syllabus.
Prepare student assignments. Maintain regularly scheduled office hours. Present instruction based on the competencies and performance levels of the course. Meet all designated class periods. Submit completed mid-semester progress reports and final grades according to university regulations. Grade student assignments and exams in timely manner. Build a positive rapport with students and other faculty. Support student performances at major jazz & commercial music events where possible.
