High School Transition Coordinator Advisor

The Arc, Ocean County Chapter is seeking a compassionate, motivated, and organized High School Transition Coordinator Advisor to join our EDGE Program. This rewarding position supports 85 to 100 blind and visually impaired high school students as they prepare for employment, post secondary education, and independent adulthood.

Position Summary

The High School Transition Coordinator Advisor provides individualized transition services to students participating in the EDGE Program. Working closely with students, families, schools, employers, and community partners, the Coordinator helps students develop the skills and confidence needed for successful employment and independent living.

This is a primarily community based position with flexibility to work remotely. Attendance at scheduled on campus meetings, community events, workshops, and student activities is required. Some evening and occasional Saturday hours are required.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide individualized transition planning and support for 85 to 100 blind and visually impaired high school students.
  • Assist students in developing:
    • Work readiness and independent living skills
    • Self advocacy skills
    • Job exploration and career planning
    • Work based learning experiences
    • Post secondary education and transition planning
  • Build relationships with local employers to identify meaningful employment opportunities for students.
  • Coordinate all EDGE 1.0 student placement efforts with the EDGE Employer Engagement Placement Officer.
  • Develop and manage Career Focus Placement Plans for EDGE 1.0 students.
  • Assist students with career readiness activities, including:
    • Resume development
    • Cover and thank you letters
    • Interview preparation
    • Networking skills
    • Job exploration
    • Competitive integrated employment placement
    • Stipend opportunities
  • Maintain accurate documentation and student records.
  • Collaborate with schools, families, employers, and community partners to ensure successful student outcomes.
