Pay Range: Salary based on education, experience, and relevant skills; faculty pay ranges are for 8.5 months’ salary unless otherwise specified.

The Department of Languages, Literatures, and Linguistics is seeking a part-time instructor to teach one 3-credit section of SPA 321 (Introduction to Spanish Literature) in the fall 2026 semester, which begins on August 24, 2026 (appointment begins on August 17, 2026). SPA 321 is an introductory-level study of representative literary texts from Spain from the 12th century to the present. The hiring rate will be determined based on per-credit pay rate history within the department.

• Master’s Degree required; native or near-native fluency required.

• Experience in university-level teaching preferred.

• Developing and/or updating a class syllabus.
• Ordering the appropriate books and materials in advance of the class start date.
• Preparation of lectures, projects or other student assignments.
• Maintaining regularly scheduled office hours of two hours per week.
• Presenting instruction based on the competencies and performance levels of the class.
• Meeting all designated class periods; if you are unable to meet your class due to illness or emergency, you must exercise your best effort to reschedule or obtain a substitute and notify the department chair or their designated contact.
• Working with the academic unit to maintain student learning outcomes.
• Submitting completed mid-semester progress reports and final grades according to University regulations.
• Grading student assignments and exams in a timely manner; providing departmentally sanctioned forms for completed student evaluations.
• Completing all other course-related duties as outlined by your department’s policies for part‑time instructors.
• Building a positive rapport with the students and faculty.
