Planetarium Educator

Job Description

This position will facilitate school group shows and K-12 group presentations. These live presentations involve direct interaction with groups of a variety of ages and last approximately 45 minutes. As needed, may also facilitate special planetarium programs on weekends and evenings. May assist with the production of shows with the planetarium manager. Will assist with administrative duties including statistics and reports.

This position provides an opportunity to engage K-12, University, and community audiences, enriching their knowledge and experience through impactful, curriculum-based science communication presentations and programming.

Responsibilities
  • Present Summer Public Planetarium shows at the museum up to 4 days per week (July-August up to 20 hours weekly), as needed at other times
  • Present K-12 Group shows
  • As needed, facilitate/present special / feature planetarium shows
  • Present Public Planetarium shows at the museum as needed during the school year (Variable schedule, about 5-15 hours weekly)
Required Qualifications

This position requires a minimum of one year of experience with K-12 student group leadership and training.

Desired Qualifications

Planetarium experience or knowledge of astronomy.
