Reading Coach Manager
Cultivating Literacy is a multilingual family literacy organization that partners with schools to strengthen early literacy by bridging home-to-school connections. PositionSummary
The Reading Coach Manager leads and supports Cultivating Literacy's team of bilingual Reading Coaches, ensuring high-quality implementation of our family literacy program across multiple school partnerships. This individual is responsible for recruiting, training, coaching, and supervising reading coaches while maintaining strong relationships with school staff and ensuring an exceptional experience for participating families. The ideal candidate is a collaborative leader with experience in literacy, family engagement, coaching adults, and program implementation.
They are highly organized, data-informed, and passionate about educational equity and multilingual communities.
- Recruit, onboard, and supervise a team of bilingual Reading Coaches.
- Facilitate new coach orientation and ongoing professional development.
- Conduct individual and team meetings.
- Observe coaching sessions and provide constructive feedback.
- Support coaches in addressing family questions, areas of support, and successes.
- Foster a collaborative and supportive coaching culture focused on continuous growth.
- Ensure coaching services are delivered with fidelity to the Cultivating Literacy model.
- Collaborate with Program Operations to coordinate program launches, orientations, and family onboarding.
- Ensure consistent implementation across multiple school sites.
- Support Reading Coaches in building strong, culturally responsive relationships with families.
- Liaison information between the program and our school partners to ensure families feel supported.
- Ensure families receive timely communication and appropriate resources.
- Serve as a primary point of contact for school staff regarding coaching implementation.
- Attend in-person programming as needed.
- Collaborate with teachers and administrators to ensure alignment between school literacy goals and home learning.
- Maintain positive relationships with district partners.
Monitor coaching metrics including:
- Family satisfaction
- Coaching session completion
- Program fidelity
- Satisfaction surveys
- Review coaching documentation
- Identify trends and recommend improvements to strengthen program implementation.
- Partner with the Data Coordinator and Director of Program Operations to analyze program outcomes.
- Work closely with the Director of Program Operations, Program Manager, Data Coordinator, and product development team.
- Provide feedback to improve coaching tools, training materials, and digital resources.
- Assist with development of new coaching protocols and best practices.
Required:
- Minimum of 3 years of experience working with children and families.
- At least 2 years of experience supervising, coaching, or managing staff.
- Strong understanding of early literacy development.
- Experience working with culturally and linguistically diverse communities.
- Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Comfortable using technology, databases, and virtual meeting platforms.
Preferred:
- Degree in Education, Early Childhood Education, Literacy, Family Studies, Social Work, or a related field.
- Experience with family literacy programs.
- Experience supporting multilingual learners.
- Bilingual proficiency (Spanish or Vietnamese strongly preferred).
- Experience using student assessment data to inform instruction.
- Experience working with school districts or community-based organizations.
This is a part-time contractor role with 15-25 hours per week at an hourly rate of $45-65, depending on years of experience and expertise in the field. This position may lead to a full-time hire should the contractor meet qualifications and provide exemplary contributions to the team, as well as budgetary factors.
