Essential Functions

The Computer Science Department is seeking a Teaching Assistant for CS-370/-570:
Computer Imaging

. The course covers image representation, spatial and frequency-domain filtering, Fourier transforms, noise removal, color processing, HDR imaging, and computational photography. Programming assignments may use C, C++, or Python.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist students with programming assignments and debugging.
  • Hold office hours or lab support sessions.
  • Grade assignments, quizzes, exams, and projects using instructor-provided rubrics.
  • Help students understand image-processing concepts.
  • Support final project presentations and course administration.
  • Accurately track and report hours worked.

Required Qualifications/Competencies

  • Must have previously completed CS-370 or CS-570 at Digi Pen Institute of Technology.
  • Must be a graduate student or advanced undergraduate student in Computer Science or a related field.
  • Strong programming skills in C, C++, or Python.
  • Good understanding of image processing, including filtering, histograms, Fourier transforms, interpolation, and noise reduction.
  • Ability to debug code and explain technical concepts clearly.
  • Strong communication, organization, and time-management skills.
  • Good academic standing.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous teaching, tutoring, or TA experience.
  • Experience with OpenCV, Num Py, Sci Py, or similar libraries.
  • Experience grading programming assignments or reviewing technical projects.

Expected dates of employment: August 31 – December 15, 2026

Expected number of hours per week: 20

Once again, students are not permitted to work during any time when they are scheduled for a class.

Wage Range:

$17.13 - $18.25 per hour
, depending on number of terms worked at Digi Pen

Working Conditions:

The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require the following physical demands: some lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling; some stooping, kneeling, and/or crouching; andfine finger dexterity. May need to lift up to 25 lbs. Generally, the job requires 80% sitting, 10% walking, and 10% standing.

Digi Pen Student Employee Academic Requirements:

  • Are currently a Matriculated student at Digi Pen Institute of Technology
  • Good Academic Standing – not on Academic Warning as defined in Digi Pen Course Catalog
  • A minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher
  • Have taken and passed CS-370 or CS-570
    with a B or better

Requirement Exceptions:

It is possible to still be selected for a position with Digi Pen if you do not meet the requirements above, so don't let that dissuade you from applying!
