Job Summary

The Stamps School of Art & Design invites applications for LEO Lecturer I positions available during the Fall 2026 semester (August 31 - December 31, 2026). These are classroom instructional positions teaching contemporary art/design techniques.

Available courses are: ARTDES 178:
Exploring Animation for Non-Majors, 001 | Tue Thu | 5:00p-7:15p (.33 FTE) ARTDES 178:
Exploring Animation for Non-Majors, 002 | Tue Thu | 7:30p-9:45p (.33 FTE) ARTDES 178:
Exploring Animation for Non-Majors, 003 | Mon Wed | 7:30p-9:45p (.33 FTE)

Classes begin Monday, August 31, 2026.

Required Qualifications *
  • Master's degree in art, design, or comparable field.
  • Minimum 1 year college-level teaching experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to teach, provide experiences for, and oversee students in their development of the skills, vocabulary, and understanding of the principles and cultural context described in each of the course descriptions.
  • Record of active creative work, scholarship, research and/or industry or other relevant professional engagement.
  • Ability to assess student work in a timely and effective manner.
Modes of Work

Positions that are eligible for hybrid or mobile/remote work mode are at the discretion of the hiring department. Work agreements are reviewed annually at a minimum and are subject to change at any time, and for any reason, throughout the course of employment. Learn more about the work modes.

Additional Information

Candidates are encouraged to apply for as many courses or sections as they are qualified to teach. Where applicable, candidates will be considered for multiple course assignments, up to 100% FTE for teaching three (3) studio sections.

Union Affiliation

This position is covered under the collective bargaining agreement between the U-M and the Lecturers Employee Organization, AFL-CIO, which contains and settles all matters with respect to wages, benefits, hours and other terms and conditions of employment.
