Job Description

At UConn Health, this class is accountable for designing and developing effective, innovative teaching and assessment strategies in an electronic learning environment.

Supervision Received

Supervision from the Director.

Supervision Exercised

Lead or supervise employees of lower grade.

Examples of Duties

Guides faculty in the application of effective teaching, management and assessment strategies in a web-based learning environment.

Works closely with faculty and other UCEDD team members to produce a variety of learning materials for use in the classroom, individual and group training activities.

Designs and develops instructional web pages and online courses with the focus on usability.

Builds templates and supports faculty and staff in the creation and design of on-line instruction.

Integrates technology in traditional courses and provides instructional technology support.

Works with faculty and staff to develop and provide workshops in developing and applying instructional design principles to the online learning environment.

Tracks trends in technology.

Introduces and implements emerging educational technologies while assisting faculty and staff with its development, assessment and evaluation.

Provides management and support for electronic classrooms;

Works cooperatively with other departments to provide appropriate curricular support.

Performs other related duties.

Minimum Qualifications Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Demonstrated expertise in developing instructional resources.

Proficiency with Blackboard, Canvas, and other platforms.

Proficiency with Microsoft Office products, standard web technologies, languages and authoring tools, and graphic/multimedia development tools.

Thorough knowledge and experience in instructional design and adult learning theories.

Strong interpersonal and project management skills in order to motivate and encourage faculty to try new and different learning styles.

Experience with course management systems.

Portfolio or online examples of completed projects.

Experience and Training

Master's degree in Educational Technology with 2 years' professional experience preferably in an academic setting.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience developing and evaluating on-line course work at the college/university level.

Experience creating and maintaining websites for state, national and international projects.

Experience working on federally funded grants.

Experience creating digital online interactive documents using the Flipping book program.

Experience working at a UCEDD.

Knowledge of the disability field.

Schedule

This is a part-time, grant funded position. This position will be at the CT UCEDD with the possibility for remote work. The schedule will be flexible as it will only be a few hours per week.

Duration

The duration of this appointment will be approximately one year and may be less or continued based on need. Due to the special nature of this position, continuous employment cannot be guaranteed.

Salary

The hourly rate for this position is $46.00. This position is not eligible for benefits.
