Job Description

Position Summary

The Online Student Success Coordinator for Somerville High School will assist in developing, implementing and facilitating strategic support structures to increase student achievement in online coursework. The Coordinator will work with academic and administrative departments to facilitate online programs including monitoring and supporting online student activities;reviewing current practices; developing support services for online programs; and performing other related duties as assigned.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities

  • Oversees all aspects of the online learning platform and its database
  • Uses the SHS Online Learning Guidelines to facilitate the Online Learning Program
  • Creates user accounts and registers students and faculty in program
  • Archives students when they are finished with their courses
  • Monitors database for students who complete their courses
  • Communicates students’ progress to counselors
  • Collaborates with Department Chairs as they review and approve the structure of courses so that courses contain the appropriate content and activities
  • Collaborates with online learning instructors, Extended Learning staff, central office, and administrative team as needed to improve online program
  • Files required reports and collects data as requested by the Principal
  • Trains and communicates regularly with other credit recovery teachers
  • Provides periodic reports and updates to SHS administrative team and academic department heads so that they can review course integrity and align courses with the Program of Studies
  • Processes and submits Grade Change Forms as indicated by online learning instructors and counselors
  • Maintains familiarity with platform and stays current with trends and products to best achieve program goals
  • Maintains student confidentiality when required
  • Sends student progress reports

Qualifications, Knowledge, Abilities, & Skills

  • Current SHS educator with at least five years teaching experience
  • Direct experience with online learning systems

    Experience working with alternative and credit recovery programs at the High School
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills
