Subject Tutor – Learning Center (Bethlehem or Online)
Part‑time (approximately 10–25 hours per week). Tutors support student success by using a personalized approach to help each student gain a deeper understanding of course material, devise effective learning strategies, engage in critical thinking, and acquire additional academic skills to reach educational goals.
Responsibilities- Use a personalized approach to help each student gain a deeper understanding of course material, devise effective learning strategies, engage in critical thinking, and acquire additional academic skills to reach educational goals.
- Meet with students individually or in small groups on campus and/or online.
- Participate in College Reading and Learning Association (CRLA) training and obtain certification within one year of employment.
- Attend staff meetings and ongoing professional development activities.
- Promptly respond to correspondence from Learning Center staff and maintain complete and accurate records.
- Perform any additional responsibilities as assigned.
- Thorough understanding of the subject(s) that will be tutored.
- Associate degree or higher in the discipline or a related field from a regionally accredited institution.
- Grade of B or above in each course the candidate intends to tutor.
- Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills, strong analytical skills, interest in working with a diverse population of students, patience, and a desire to help others learn and succeed.
- Previous experience as a peer or professional tutor is a plus but not required.
