Science Tutor - Learning Center (Bethlehem or Online)

Part‑time position (approximately 10 to 25 hours per week). Tutors help students with science disciplines including General Biology, Chemistry, and Anatomy & Physiology. Tutors support student success by using a personalized approach to deepen understanding, guide learning strategies, foster critical thinking, and build academic skills.

Responsibilities
  • Meet with students individually or in small groups on campus or online.
  • Explain course material, develop learning strategies, and foster critical thinking.
  • Maintain complete and accurate records.
  • Attend staff meetings and ongoing professional development activities.
  • Respond promptly to correspondence from Learning Center staff.
  • Obtain College Reading and Learning Association (CRLA) certification within one year of employment (training provided).
  • Complete additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Thorough understanding of the subject(s) to tutor.
  • Associate’s degree or higher in the discipline or a related field from a regionally accredited institution.
  • B or higher grade in each course the candidate intends to tutor.
  • Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Strong analytical skills and an interest in working with a diverse population of students.
  • Patience and a genuine desire to help others learn and succeed.
  • Previous tutoring experience is a plus but not required.
