Science Tutor - Learning Center (Bethlehem or Online)
Part‑time position (approximately 10 to 25 hours per week). Tutors help students with science disciplines including General Biology, Chemistry, and Anatomy & Physiology. Tutors support student success by using a personalized approach to deepen understanding, guide learning strategies, foster critical thinking, and build academic skills.
Responsibilities- Meet with students individually or in small groups on campus or online.
- Explain course material, develop learning strategies, and foster critical thinking.
- Maintain complete and accurate records.
- Attend staff meetings and ongoing professional development activities.
- Respond promptly to correspondence from Learning Center staff.
- Obtain College Reading and Learning Association (CRLA) certification within one year of employment (training provided).
- Complete additional duties as assigned.
- Thorough understanding of the subject(s) to tutor.
- Associate’s degree or higher in the discipline or a related field from a regionally accredited institution.
- B or higher grade in each course the candidate intends to tutor.
- Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills.
- Strong analytical skills and an interest in working with a diverse population of students.
- Patience and a genuine desire to help others learn and succeed.
- Previous tutoring experience is a plus but not required.
The number of positions hired each semester varies. If no position is currently available, applicants can be placed in a pool for future consideration. Applications must include a resume/CV and a cover letter.
