The Student Services Coordinator is a bilingual (English-Spanish preferred), part-time employee who provides front desk coverage, is responsible for student persistence and outreach calls, and assists with new student registration and learner re-enrollment. Immediate Supervisor: Student Services Manager
Hours: 3.5 hours/week, Saturdays 8:30 am to 12:00 pm.
Salary: $19.76/hour ($20.76/hour with bilingual differential)

Responsibilities:
- Greet and interact with guests, volunteers, learners and staff in a friendly, professional manner
- Answer phone calls using a multi-line phone system. Direct phone calls to appropriate staff
- Provide information about Literacy Network programs and services
- Solve problems in an efficient and friendly manner
- Direct questions to appropriate staff
- Maintain organization of shared front desk and lobby area
- Assist with library circulation and organization
- Assist the Student Services manager with student registration for all ESL programs
- Provide persistence support and encouragement to students in two public group classes, including reminder texts, reengagement calls and re-enrollment
- Collaborate with staff to provide individualized academic counseling and enrollment to students during registration and re-enrollment sessions
- Request and distribute student textbooks
- Participate in trainings and planning meetings with staff and program partners
- Engage in professional development opportunities as applicable and as schedule permits
- Act as a representative of Literacy Network in the community, on behalf of our student population and in service to community members seeking information on our programs and your areas of expertise
The ideal candidate must be a flexible, well-organized individual who can be effective in a fast-paced environment and who works well in multicultural teams and with diverse constituencies. The candidate will be self-motivated, work well under pressure, and be able to handle several projects at one time. The candidate will have good judgment and, ideally, a sense of humor. The candidate must also demonstrate a passion and a commitment to community education, and to building connections among learners and the Dane County community.
The following skills and attributes are required:
- Fluency in Spanish and English preferred
- Excellent interpersonal and intercultural communication skills; excellent oral and written communication skills
- Ability to work on delegated tasks with minimal supervision
- Excellent organizational skills
- Word, Excel, Google Drive, and database entry skills
- Experience working with adults from diverse backgrounds
- Commitment to Literacy Network’s mission; interest, enthusiasm, and affinity for working with people and helping them reach their goals
