Salem State University invites applications for a full-time, temporary faculty position in Special Education beginning in Spring 2027. The successful candidate will contribute to a dynamic educator preparation program committed to inclusive practices, equity, and strong partnerships with schools and communities.

Dutiesand Responsibilities
Candidates are required to perform duties in accordance with the MSCA contract. Duties include teaching, advising, scholarship and contributions to continuously improve the department and university. The standard teaching load is 12 credit hours per semester. The position is subject to available funding.
Required Qualifications- Earned doctoral degree in Special Education or a closely related field (by time of appointment).
- Professional experience as a Special Education teacher.
- Demonstrated commitment to inclusive instructional practices in educational settings and culturally responsive practices.
- A scholarly agenda.
- Strong organizational and written and communication skills.
Expertise in one or more of the following areas:
- Evidence-based instructional practices, materials, and methods for teaching students with moderate disabilities
- Literacy instruction for students with disabilities
- Diagnostic and educational assessment for students with disabilities
Development, interpretation, and implementation of Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) - Autism spectrum disorder, including school-based and home-based interventions, collaboration with families, and advocacy for students with autism
- Experience teaching in higher education.
- Experience with online asynchronous or hybrid instruction and learning management systems, such as Canvas.
This is an on-site position in Salem, MA with on-campus, in-person responsibilities.
Employment is contingent upon a completed background and CORI check satisfactory to the university.
