We're working with a respected nonprofit family services agency in San Diego County to find a full-time Head Start Home Visitor ready to make a real difference for families across the region.
Direct-Hire Placement — This isn't a temp gig. You'll be hired directly onto the organization's team as a permanent, full-time employee, with full access to their benefits and the community of a long-term agency home.
What You'll Own- Conduct weekly home visits, coaching parents/guardians on how to influence and impact their child's learning within the home environment
- Help design, implement, and deliver individualized early childhood education services for children enrolled in the home-based program option
- Champion parent engagement, empowering families to lead in planning and decision-making around their child's education and development
- Administer developmentally appropriate screenings and assessments, and maintain accurate student records, data, and required reports
- Connect children and families to community resources and services that address their unique needs
- Facilitate parent meetings, workshops, and family engagement activities that build knowledge and skills in health, nutrition, and child development
- Support the recruitment and enrollment of families, and review applications for income eligibility and program qualifications
- Support inclusion and mainstreaming of children with special needs, collaborating with specialists as needed
- Report suspected or known child abuse and neglect in accordance with California Child Abuse Reporting laws and agency procedures
- An Associate of Arts (AA) degree in Child Development, Early Childhood Education, or a closely related field — or a valid Teacher Permit (or higher) and/or at least 24 semester units in Child Development/Early Childhood Education (including infant/toddler coursework), with willingness to continue toward a degree within 2 years of hire
- At least 1 year of experience in an early childhood education or family services program that emphasizes the parent's role in a child's development and learning
- Bilingual English/Spanish proficiency (written and verbal) preferred
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and other workplace technology
- A valid driver's license, reliable vehicle, and current auto insurance — regular travel for home visits, meetings, trainings, and community events is required
- Ability to obtain and maintain required health, TB, and fingerprint/background clearances
- A self-motivated, dependable spirit and comfort working independently across diverse cultural, ethnic, linguistic, and socioeconomic communities
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, and lift/carry up to 30 lbs, with the flexibility for occasional evening or weekend work as program needs require
