School Psychologist Position
This School Psychologist position is based in the Largo, Maryland area and offers a balanced, part-time schedule of approximately 20 hours per week. Largo is a well-situated suburban community in Prince George's County, known for its convenient access to Washington, D.C., while maintaining a quieter, residential feel. Professionals in Largo enjoy nearby parks and green spaces, family-friendly recreational options, and easy access to shopping, dining, and cultural events throughout the region.
The area is served by a network of schools and educational programs that emphasize student achievement, collaboration, and innovation, making it a rewarding environment in which to practice.
In this role, the School Psychologist will primarily focus on conducting in-person student assessments on campus in the Largo area. The position is structured to provide flexibility: while assessment activities must occur face-to-face with students, report writing and participation in team meetings may be completed virtually. This hybrid model is designed to support efficiency and professional autonomy, allowing focused time on campus for testing, followed by remote work for documentation and collaboration.
Typical responsibilities include:
- Conducting comprehensive psycho educational evaluations for students referred for academic, behavioral, social-emotional, and developmental concerns
- Administering standardized tests and assessment batteries, observing students in educational settings, and gathering information from teachers, families, and support staff
- Interpreting assessment data to develop clear, detailed evaluation reports that align with state and federal regulations and local district guidelines
- Participating in virtual and in-person multidisciplinary team meetings, including IEP and eligibility meetings, to present findings and collaborate on decisions regarding eligibility and services
- Providing data-informed recommendations for instructional strategies, behavioral supports, and school-based interventions
- Consulting with teachers and school staff to support the implementation of interventions and accommodations within general and special education settings
- Contributing to the development and maintenance of a positive, supportive school climate by sharing expertise in social-emotional learning and behavioral supports
- Maintaining accurate, timely documentation and adhering to all confidentiality, ethical, and legal standards of the profession
The typical workweek involves scheduling blocks of time at the school for direct student testing, followed by designated hours for virtual report writing and attendance at online meetings with instructional teams and families. This part-time structure is ideal for School Psychologists seeking a consistent, meaningful caseload without a full-time commitment.
