Position Description

The Kakos School of Arts and Sciences is a vibrant, interdisciplinary community of student and faculty scholars working together to advance excellence in research, teaching, and learning. Approximately 85% of our graduates either find employment or enroll in a graduate program related to their field of study within a year of graduation.

The Department of English, World Languages and Literatures at Manhattan University invites applications for an adjunct instructor specializing in Latinx Literature and American Studies for the fall 2026 semester.

The course examines key themes and narrative impulses of Latino/a literature. Students will engage the work of authors from a range of time periods. They will also study a variety of genres, such as novels, short stories, drama, poetry, and/or non-fiction essays. 3 credits. This is an in-person, on-campus, non-remote position.

Each section will be at the undergraduate level, taught in person, and will have approximately 25 students, beginning Monday, August 24, 2026.

Meeting times are as follows:
ENGLISH 212-01, Latino/a Literature:
Monday/Thursday, 11:00 am-12:15 pm
ENGLISH 212-02, Latino/a Literature:
Monday/Thursday, 12:30-1:45 pm
The compensation is $4,431.83 per 3-credit course.

Job Responsibilities
  • Teach 2 sections of ENGLISH 212:
    Latino/a Literature
  • Contribute to the academic mission of the department through high-quality instruction and engagement with students
  • Deliver engaging and informative lectures
  • Prepare course materials, syllabi, and assessments
  • Provide timely feedback on student progress and assignments
Requirements
  • Master's degree required, Ph.

    D. (preferred)
  • At least one year of teaching experience
  • Candidates with a proven record of excellence in teaching will be preferred
