Adjunct Faculty Member For Composition And Rhetoric

The College of Arts and Sciences' Department of English is seeking applicants specializing in Composition and Rhetoric for their adjunct labor pool. The English Department's mission is to prepare students to succeed in an increasingly diverse world. The department is devoted to an innovative curriculum that encourages lifelong learning, critical thinking and effective writing.

The English Department seeks an adjunct faculty member who can teach upper-level Composition and Rhetoric courses. This position can be fully remote, but applicants should be able to conduct class asynchronously via Blackboard Ultra or synchronously online, depending on assigned course modality. The Department anticipates a need for an instructor with experience teaching courses such as Technical Writing and Design;
Professional Writing;
Literacy, Rhetoric, and Social Practice; or Writing in Public Life.

Applicants must have experience relevant to teaching the specific course content. Candidates will be evaluated on the suitability of their academic preparation, past teaching experience, and ability or potential to effectively teach upper-level undergraduate Composition and Rhetoric courses. Expertise and experience relevant to the course content will also be considered. Successful candidates will be responsible for teaching one or more courses in composition in a manner consistent with the specific course content description, course content guide, and assigned textbook.

Minimum Qualifications:

Doctorate degree in related field is required for these upper-division (300- and 400-level courses).

Position Details:

This position is located on the University of Alaska Anchorage campus in Anchorage, AK. This is a part-time, adjunct represented temporary position. New hires will be place on the adjunct salary as outlined in the UNAD CBA, based on education and experience.
