Job SummaryThe Liturgy and Falcon's Nest Music Teacher is Catholic Academy is responsible for fostering students' musical development while supporting the school's Catholic mission through liturgical music and faith-filled worship experiences. This position provides music instruction, prepares students for school liturgies and special performances, and coordinates music activities within the Falcon's Nest program to encourage creativity, participation, and appreciation for music.
Key Responsibilities- Plan and deliver engaging music instruction for students in accordance with school curriculum and educational standards.
- Prepare and lead students in music for school Masses, prayer services, liturgical celebrations, and other faith-based events.
- Teach vocal and basic instrumental music skills, music appreciation, rhythm, and performance techniques.
- Coordinate and direct student performances, concerts, and special presentations throughout the school year.
- Support and lead music activities within the Falcon's Nest program.
- Select age-appropriate music that supports both educational goals and Catholic liturgical traditions.
- Collaborate with school administration, faculty, parish staff, and campus ministry teams to plan and support liturgical celebrations.
- Encourage student participation, confidence, creativity, and appreciation for music.
- Maintain music equipment, instructional materials, and performance resources.
- Uphold the mission, values, and teachings of the Catholic Church and St. Louis Catholic Academy.
Bachelor's degree in Music Education, Music, Education, or a related field preferred. Previous experience teaching music to children in a school, parish, or recreational setting preferred. Knowledge of Catholic liturgy and liturgical music preferred. Strong vocal and/or instrumental music skills. Excellent communication, organizational, and classroom management abilities. Ability to inspire and engage students of varying ages and skill levels. Commitment to fostering a faith-centered learning environment.
Ability to work collaboratively with administration, faculty, parish staff, and families.
School-based setting with classroom instruction, rehearsals, and liturgical responsibilities. Requires standing, walking, conducting rehearsals, and active engagement with students throughout the workday. May require occasional evening or weekend attendance for performances, liturgies, or special school events. Dynamic and collaborative environment focused on music education, faith formation, and student development.
