Position Summary: The Adjunct Nursing Theory Instructor teaches assigned nursing theory courses and promotes student success through effective instruction and engagement. This position ensures course content aligns with program curriculum and learning outcomes, fosters a supportive learning environment, and serves as a professional role model. Qualified candidates must demonstrate expertise in the teaching area, meet academic and regulatory requirements, and maintain required nursing licensure and board approval when applicable
Responsibilities:
- Teach theory course/content as designated.
- Maintain program curriculum through adherence to course outcomes/exemplars.
- Create an environment which facilitates student learning.
- Serve as a professional role model for students.
- Use teaching strategies that promote clinical judgment, problem-solving, and sound decision-making in clinical practice.
- Implement a variety of strategies and tools to evaluate student achievement and measure progress based upon the course objectives.
- Assume total responsibility for teaching, assigning, supervising, and evaluating student learning, in the designated course.
- Collaborate with course coordinator(s) or program chair to ensure consistency across all course sections.
- Completes all course-related requirements:
Including but not limited to the creation of syllabi, course reports, maintaining attendance records, accommodation forms, midterm grade reporting, and final grades. - Participate in all onboarding processes.
- Participate in the Online Learning Community as assigned, including completing required adjunct faculty modules related to value-added feedback and effective online instruction.
- Adhere to and consistently follow established Online Faculty Norms, including expectations for communication, engagement, instructor presence, feedback, and responsiveness.
Qualifications:
- Master's degree in nursing
- Adjunct theory faculty will be academically and experientially qualified and maintain expertise in areas of responsibility.
- Adjunct faculty teaching in the online nursing program will have experience in online learning environments.
- Candidate must have relevant clinical, professional, and/or teaching experience in related content of courses assigned to teach.
- Candidate must hold a current, unencumbered professional nurse license to practice in Missouri.
- Candidate must be approved by Missouri State Board of Nursing prior to appointment.
