Job SummaryThe Department of Mathematics in the College of Literature, Science, and the Arts at the University of Michigan seeks applicants for a Lecturer I Fall 2026 position to begin August 25, 2026 through December 31, 2026. The appointment is subject to final approval by the college.
Responsibilities*A typical full-time (100% effort) load for a Lecturer I in the College of Literature, Science, and the Arts is three courses per semester. This Lecturer I position could teach anywhere from one to three courses in the Fall semester for a 33.33% effort up to possibly 100% effort. This will be completely dependent on departmental teaching needs.
Duties of these Lecturer I positions are expected to include teaching, developing course materials, evaluating and grading students, and holding regularly scheduled office hours.
Course Titles:
Math 105, Math 115, and/or Math 116
Qualified candidates will have substantial experience teaching mathematics at the collegiate level. Criteria for selection include excellence in classroom teaching, and the ability to work productively with faculty and staff in our department.
Modes of WorkPositions that are eligible for hybrid or mobile/remote work mode are at the discretion of the hiring department. Work agreements are reviewed annually at a minimum and are subject to change at any time, and for any reason, throughout the course of employment.
Union AffiliationThis position is covered under the collective bargaining agreement between the U-M and the Lecturers Employee Organization, AFL-CIO, which contains and settles all matters with respect to wages, benefits, hours and other terms and conditions of employment.
