Position Overview

Nelson University seeks a highly qualified adjunct faculty member with a Ph.D. in Counselor Education & Supervision from a CACREP-accredited program to begin teaching in Fall 2027. This position is within the Department of Behavioral Sciences and Community Services.

The successful candidate will teach assigned graduate counseling courses in a fully online format and contribute to the continued strength of the counseling curriculum.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Teach assigned counseling and counselor education courses beginning Fall 2027.
  • Deliver instruction aligned with CACREP standards where applicable.
  • Integrate Christian faith and professional counseling identity in course engagement.
  • Facilitate applied learning, case analysis, and professional skill development.
  • Provide timely, substantive feedback to students.
  • Submit required course documentation and assessment materials.
Minimum Qualifications

Preferred:

  • State licensure as a Licensed Professional Counselor
  • Minimum 3 years teaching experience in a college or university setting

Required:

  • Earned doctoral degree in Counselor Education & Supervision
  • Graduate of a CACREP-accredited program
  • ABD candidates with a clear timeline toward completion of the terminal degree may be considered.
Professional Qualifications
  • Documented professional counseling/clinical experience.
  • Experience teaching in an online format preferred.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to engage students from diverse backgrounds.
  • Commitment to collaboration and program development.
Faith Commitment
  • Personal faith consistent with Nelson University’s evangelical Christian mission.
  • Active participation in a local church community;
    Assemblies of God affiliation preferred.
Compensation

Compensation is determined according to established distance education pay scales and is based on credentials and teaching assignments.

Employment Classification

This position is classified as exempt under the Fair Labor Standards Act.
