About the Job

A key member of the admissions team, an Admissions Counselor mustbe enthusiastic, highly-motivated, and have the ability to articulate the values and objectives of a hands-on-experiential learning atmosphere, to attract, recruit, and admit students to UMNCrookston. This person will assist in building a diverse, inclusivecampus and living community for the Crookston campus. The individual selected will represent UMN Crookston by providing high quality service to prospective students and their families,and collaborating with members of the campus to support students and advance efforts to create a welcoming and inclusive environment.

The duties of the position will require travel,including extended overnight stays, and flexible evening and weekend hours.

• Working with the Assistant Director of Recruitment, develop and implement a recruitment plan tailored for assigned territory tomeet short-term and long-term goals.
• Conduct student recruitment and outreach activities on and offcampus, as well as virtually.
• Plans and participates in recruitment and enrollment activities,including: open houses, regional presentations, orientationprograms, career days, regional and national college fairs, virtualevents, and build brand awareness and reputation.
• Develops and presents public presentations designed to promote the University.
• Meets with prospective students and parents to provide individual counseling on educational options and alternatives.
• Monitors student behavior trends and adjusts recruiting planaccordingly.
• Reviews applications and makes admissions decisions based on academic requirements and program choice compatibility.
• Engages in extensive phone calls and email communication to applicants within assigned recruitment territory.
• Meet individual recruitment goals and objectives.
• Anticipates and responds to the needs of guests from diverse cultures and backgrounds.
• Participates in advancing UMN Crookston’s efforts to build an inclusive and respectful campus community.
• Participate in training programs to develop professionally andbecome fully informed about the University and recruitingstrategies.
• Maintain a working knowledge of current UMN Crookston degree programs, policies, and major content.
• Will work with technology, such as CRM’s (Slate), and student records databases.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

• Bachelor's degree earned by start date with at least two years of professional experience, or master's degree
• Effective interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
• Valid driver's license
• Excellent public speaking and writing skills, and strong organizational skills
• Excellent customer service skills, phone and video-conferencingetiquette
• Excellent ability to interact and serve individuals from diverse backgrounds and age groups
• Ability to work effectively within a team environment
• Ability to travel a minimum of 12 weeks annually, including extended overnight stays, and flexible evening and weekend hours

• Experience working in college admissions, college counseling, orin related areas of higher education.
• Experience as undergraduate admissions intern, studentambassador, student life or student activities leadership experience, or student volunteer experience will be considered.
• Experience working with socioeconomically diverse populationssuch as non-traditional, first-generation, and low-income individuals.
• Ability to work under pressure, in a team atmosphere, and with aminimum of direct supervision.
• Familiarity with the University and the surrounding communitiesdesired.
• Experience organizing and planning programs and public presentations.

Pay Range: $48,000 - $52,000 per year
