Instructional Designer
The Instructional Designer is responsible for designing, developing, implementing, and evaluating learning solutions that support employee performance, organizational effectiveness, and exceptional member service. This position collaborates with subject matter experts, project teams, and business leaders to create engaging training programs utilizing adult learning principles, instructional design methodologies, and learning technologies. The role supports organizational change initiatives, workforce development, onboarding, compliance training, and continuous learning strategies across the credit union.
This position is eligible for a hybrid work from home schedule, as set and approved by the position's manager in accordance with the credit union's Remote Work policy.
Essential Functions & Responsibilities:
- 45% - Design, develop, maintain, and update engaging learning solutions including eLearning courses, instructor-led training, virtual learning, blended learning programs, assessments, simulations, job aids, videos, and other instructional materials that support employee development, operational effectiveness, regulatory compliance and organizational objectives.
- 20% - Partner with managers, project teams, and subject matter experts to identify learning needs, conduct training and performance gap analyses, develop learning strategies, and create training solutions aligned with business goals, regulatory requirements, and employee development needs. Review, edit and refine content developed by others to ensure accuracy, consistency, and alignment with adult learning principles and instructional design best practices.
- 10% - Facilitate virtual and in-person training programs, workshops, onboarding sessions, and other learning events using established curriculum and instructional materials.
- 10% - Manage instructional design projects from inception to implementation, including project planning, prioritization, stakeholder communication, and timely delivery of learning solutions. Evaluate training effectiveness through learner feedback, assessments, and performance metrics and make recommendations for continuous improvement.
- 10% - Assist with administering and maintaining learning management systems including course assignments, enrollments, learning paths, reporting, content management, training records, and learner tracking.
- 5% - Perform other duties as assigned.
Performance Measurements:
Design and develop comprehensive, engaging, and interactive training programs for employees, including eLearning modules, instructor-led sessions, in-person training and blended learning solutions. Develop content related to key areas including but not limited to compliance, financial products, member service and employee onboarding.Conduct needs assessments to identify skill gaps and create training solutions that address those needs effectively.Collaborate with supervisors, management, project teams and subject matter experts to create and design learning and development programs to address specific training needs for all employee levels aligned with the credit union's goals and objectives.Test, monitor, report and follow up on training process to participants and supervisors. Evaluate the effectiveness of training programs through post-training assessments, feedback, and performance metrics. Analyze training data and generate reports to track progress, measure training outcomes, and identify areas for improvement.Continuously update and improve training materials based on learner feedback, organizational needs, process changes, and regulatory requirements.Make recommendations for the best use and application of technology as part of the design and development of training programs as well as the creation and delivery.Ensure that instructional design is rooted in best practices, adult learning principles, and the unique needs of the credit union's workforce.Maintain and leverage industry knowledge and network(s) to provide "best practice" and benchmarking resources. Keep abreast of training industry trends for evaluation and/or incorporation into training strategies. Secure and maintain appropriate certification for external and/or internal training programs as appropriate.Provide ongoing support and resources to employees post-training to help reinforce learning and ensure continued development.Travel throughout the market area to visit branch locations and meet with employees across various departments to identify training opportunities and acquire knowledge and resources necessary to support effective course development.Support organizational change initiatives, ensuring employees are equipped with the knowledge, skills, and resources needed to adapt to evolving processes, technologies, and company goals.
