Specialised Part-Time Consulting Opportunity

We are sharing a specialised part-time consulting opportunity for experienced education professionals with strong expertise in educational materials, visual document interpretation, assessment design, and structured evaluation.

This role supports a research project focused on complex visual and document-based tasks within the education domain. Selected experts will create realistic, evidence-grounded assignments, establish clear reference answers, and develop objective scoring criteria for evaluating the quality and accuracy of responses.

Key Responsibilities

Education Task Design

  • Create complex, realistic tasks grounded in educational materials and professional education workflows
  • Develop assignments requiring careful interpretation of documents, charts, tables, diagrams, presentations, and other visual resources
  • Design tasks that require meaningful subject-matter judgement rather than simple information retrieval
  • Ensure each task has a clear and objectively verifiable expected output
  • Develop scenarios appropriate to authentic educational contexts

Visual Document Interpretation

  • Analyse educational documents containing text, graphics, tables, diagrams, and structured information
  • Create questions requiring information to be synthesised across multiple visual or textual elements
  • Identify relevant details, relationships, and contextual information within source materials
  • Develop tasks that test accurate interpretation of complex educational content
  • Ensure conclusions remain grounded in the supplied materials

Assessment & Instruction-Following

  • Create tasks involving multi-step instructions and clearly defined deliverables
  • Evaluate whether responses fully satisfy stated requirements
  • Identify missing information, instruction-following errors, and unsupported conclusions
  • Develop assessment criteria that distinguish complete responses from partially correct ones
  • Apply consistent standards across different task types

Reference Answer Development

  • Produce authoritative reference outputs for assigned tasks
  • Establish clear ground truth based on provided educational materials
  • Verify that reference answers are accurate, complete, and reproducible
  • Document the reasoning and evidence supporting expected outcomes
  • Resolve ambiguity before tasks progress to evaluation

Rubric & Quality Development

  • Write objective rubrics defining the requirements for successful responses
  • Identify essential elements that must be present in a correct answer
  • Distinguish substantive errors from minor presentation differences
  • Refine tasks and rubrics for clarity, difficulty, and evaluation reliability
  • Maintain consistent quality standards across the project

Ideal Profile

  • Professional or academic background in Education, Curriculum, Instructional Design, Educational Assessment, or a closely related field
  • Strong ability to interpret educational documents and visually structured information
  • Experience working with instructional materials, assessments, curricula, or educational content
  • Strong analytical judgement and attention to detail
  • Ability to create clearly defined tasks with objective expected outcomes
  • Excellent written English and ability to explain reasoning precisely
  • Comfortable working independently within structured project guidelines
  • Experience developing assessments, rubrics, instructional materials, or educational evaluation criteria is advantageous
  • Based in the United States or Canada

Engagement Details

  • Part-time independent contractor engagement
  • Fully remote
  • Expected commitment of approximately 15–20 hours per week
  • Flexible scheduling based on project requirements
  • Compensation:
    Up to $50/hour
  • Work focuses on education task authoring, reference-answer development, and evaluation criteria
  • Projects may be extended, shortened, or concluded based on project needs and performance
  • Work must be completed without using confidential or proprietary information belonging to any employer, client, institution, or other third party
  • H1-B and STEM OPT support is unavailable for this engagement
