BASIC FUNCTION:The Director of Health Promotion and Prevention is part of adynamic team that supports and encourages a student-centered culture focused on learning and student transformation. This position is held by a seasoned leader who brings strategic vision,extensive experience, and a demonstrated ability to guideinitiatives, mentor staff, and advance comprehensive health promotion and prevention efforts across the institution. This position advocates for and leads efforts to develop health and wellness practices that promote personal development and student success.
The Director of Health Promotion and Prevention engagesstudents, campus leadership and partners in developing campus-wideeducation, resources, and programming centered on wellness,selfcare, resilience and mindfulness in order to support students in making the most of their college careers. The Director of Health Promotion and Prevention nurtures a culture of wellbeing in all aspects of student life, responding to diverse and changing needsof the student body while demonstrating cultural competence and acommitment to equity, inclusion and to identifying and removing barriers to access.
This is a non-clinical position.
- Utilizes the dimensions of well-being as a guiding framework toshape strategy, programs, and initiatives; integrates holisticwellness principles into planning and assessment, ensuring effortsaddress the interconnected physical, emotional, social,intellectual, and environmental needs of students.
- Develop, deliver, and evaluate programs, presentations, andtrainings to promote a thriving student population centered around student overall wellness, including but not limited to alcohol andother drug education; sexual assault prevention, awareness,response, and advocacy; healthy relationships, etc.
- Collaborate with the Dean of Students team to provide follow upsupport and resources for students who have challenges with academic, physical, mental health, wellness, or their generalwellbeing
- Design and implement training opportunities and programminginitiative with resident advisors in conjunction with the Salve Residence Life curriculum
- Partner with stakeholders and collaborate with other offices across campus (i.e. counseling services/health services, etc.) tosupport wellness initiatives and participate in university-wideyield programs and events, which may include Open Houses,Connections Day, Admitted Student Day, and New Seahawk Orientation
- Oversight of the Alcohol and Other Drugs Committee, and othercommittees as relevant
- Management of online learning modules assigned to onboardingstudents
- Provide ongoing efforts related to Mental Health First Aid,Title IX, and bystander intervention workshops and/or trainings;offering both passive and in-person programming initiatives
- Serve in the Professional Staff On-Call rotation, responsible for 24-hour conflict and crisis management for entire on campusresidence community
- Oversee the social media platforms for the Salve wellnessaccount
- Serve as an active member of the Student Affairs Leadership Team (SALT), contributing to divisional strategy, policy development, and decision-making; collaborates with colleagues toalign initiatives with institutional priorities, represent health promotion and prevention perspectives, and advance a cohesive,student-centered approach across Student…
