Stellar Virtual is seeking a highly motivated and certified Secondary Science Teacher to join our team remotely. This role involves delivering engaging and effective science instruction to students in grades 6-12 through our virtual platform across multiple state programs. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of secondary science disciplines, excellent communication and technology skills, and a passion for fostering a positive online learning environment.
Responsibilities include curriculum implementation, assessment, individualized support, and collaboration to ensure student success.
- Deliver engaging and interactive live virtual science lessons aligned with applicable state standards and program requirements for grades 6-12.
- Utilize diverse online teaching methods, resources, and technologies to meet varied learning styles and student needs.
- Develop and deliver asynchronous learning activities, including interactive assignments, projects, and discussions.
- Provide timely and clear feedback on student work to enhance understanding and academic growth.
- Facilitate small-group instruction and provide individualized student support.
- Maintain accurate records of student attendance, grades, and academic progress.
- Implement Stellar Virtual science curriculum effectively and adapt instruction to meet individual student needs.
- Develop and administer formative and summative assessments to monitor student learning and inform instruction.
- Analyze student data to identify learning gaps and adjust instructional strategies.
- Collaborate with curriculum specialists and other teachers to support and enhance science curriculum and instruction.
- Maintain regular and effective communication with students and parents regarding progress, assignments, and concerns.
- Respond promptly to student and parent inquiries via email, phone, and virtual meetings.
- Support on-site testing events periodically throughout the year, as required.
- Participate in virtual professional development and collaborate with colleagues on effective online teaching practices.
- Work collaboratively with student support services, including counselors and special education staff, to address student needs.
- Attend virtual staff meetings and contribute to the overall success of Stellar Virtual.
- Maintain compliance with applicable state certification, instructional, and program requirements.
- Minimum of two (2) years of successful teaching experience, preferably in a secondary setting.
- Experience teaching a range of secondary science courses, such as General Science, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, or Earth Science.
- Demonstrated experience using online learning platforms and educational technology.
- Proven experience working independently with minimal supervision, including the ability to manage a digital task list and maintain a stable remote (home-office) infrastructure.
- Minimum of 1–2 years of experience using the Google Workspace suite (Docs, Sheets, Slides, Drive) in a professional or academic setting.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate complex ideas via written channels (Email, Google Chat, and Document Comments) with high clarity and low ambiguity.
- Access to a private, secure, high-speed internet connection with a minimum of 25 Mbps download and 10 Mbps upload speeds.
- Residency in an assigned program state may be required based on program needs and applicable state requirements.
- Bachelor's degree in Science, Science Education, or a related field.
- Valid teaching certification/license with an appropriate Secondary Science endorsement or authorization for grades 6-12 in at least one of the following states:
Iowa, Tennessee, or Missouri. - Willingness and ability to obtain and maintain the appropriate teaching certification/license and Secondary Science endorsement or authorization in the remaining assigned program states, as needed.
