Are you passionate about creating engaging online learning experiences and supporting faculty success? The College of Western Idaho (CWI) is seeking an Instructional Designer to support the design, development, and continuous improvement of online courses, instructional content, and faculty professional development initiatives.
In this role, you'll collaborate with faculty, academic departments, and college leadership to develop innovative learning experiences, implement instructional best practices, and provide expertise in online teaching, learning, and educational technology.

Course Design & Development:
Partner with faculty subject matter experts to design, develop, and enhance online courses and instructional materials
Create and revise course components, including videos, learning activities, assessments, and asynchronous instructional content
Ensure courses align with instructional design best practices, accessibility standards, and student-centered learning principles
Develop scalable solutions that support effective online instruction across a variety of disciplines
Faculty Support & Professional Development:
Provide Canvas support, training, and instructional resources for faculty
Design, develop, and facilitate professional development workshops, instructional courses, and training opportunities
Support instructors in implementing effective online teaching strategies and educational technologies
Serve as a trusted resource for course delivery, instructional improvement, and instructional technology needs
Instructional Design & Educational Innovation:
Research and apply emerging instructional design methodologies, online learning strategies, and educational technologies
Serve as a subject matter expert in online teaching and learning
Recommend and implement improvements to instructional content, course design processes, and learning experiences
Promote innovative and effective approaches to teaching and learning
Collaboration & Relationship Building:
Develop and maintain strong working relationships with faculty, administrators, and academic departments
Collaborate with internal teams to support institutional goals related to teaching excellence and student success
Gather feedback and identify opportunities to improve instructional design services and processes
Work effectively across departments to implement course and program enhancements
Manage multiple course development projects and competing priorities while maintaining attention to detail
Support continuous improvement efforts related to online instruction and course quality
Ensure projects are completed on time and aligned with institutional priorities
Perform other duties as assigned
What We're Looking For:
Bachelor's degree in Education, Educational Technology, Instructional Design, or a related field
One (1) to two (2) years of instructional design experience
Experience with online learning as a student, instructor, or instructional designer
Strong organizational and project management skills
Excellent interpersonal, communication, and collaboration skills
Strong presentation and facilitation skills in both virtual and in-person environments
Experience with learning management systems such as Canvas, Moodle, or similar platforms
Proficiency with Microsoft Office and educational technology tools
Ability to balance multiple projects while maintaining a high level of quality and attention to detail
Additional Instructions For Applicants:Most positions at CWI are in-person and based on campus. While some roles may allow up to two remote workdays per week, eligibility for remote work is determined on a case-by-case basis at the hiring manager's discretion. All candidates must reside within, or be willing to relocate to, a reasonable commuting distance from CWI. Employment visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
