Position Overview:
The Even Start Home Visitor provides comprehensive home-based services to families with young children to promote school readiness, strengthen parenting practices, and support child development. The Home Visitor delivers services in alignment with the Parents as Teachers (PAT) model and collaborates with school staff and community partners to ensure coordinated support for families.

Duties and Responsibilities:
- Conduct monthly home visits for all enrolled families and their children.
- Implement parent education and family engagement activities using the PAT curriculum.
- Administer developmental screenings using the Ages & Stages Questionnaires (ASQ).
- Interpret screening results and share findings with families in a supportive and culturally responsive manner.
- Provide resources, referrals, and educational materials to families based on identified needs.
- Collaborate with classroom teachers to align home visit goals with classroom instruction, including integration of Creative Curriculum practices.
- Utilize knowledge of PALS (Phonological Awareness Literacy Screening) and DOTS (Documentation and Observation for Teaching Systems) to support assessment and instructional alignment.
- Participate in team meetings, professional development, and required program trainings.
- Complete all required documentation, reports, data entry, and compliance paperwork in a timely and accurate manner.
- Support the general vision and mission of New London Public Schools and the goals and priorities of New London Adult and Continuing Education.
- Maintain regular attendance and professional appearance.
- Perform other related tasks as assigned by the Director.
Minimum Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, Social Work, Human Services, or related field preferred. Experience working with young children and families in home-based or community settings. Knowledge of early childhood development and school readiness practices. Demonstrated cultural competence and ability to work with diverse populations. Ability to manage time effectively and maintain a structured caseload. Reliable transportation and valid driver's license required.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Preferred Requirements:
Bilingual proficiency in Spanish or Haitian Creole highly desirable. Experience administering developmental screenings preferred. Working knowledge of Parents as Teachers (PAT) model.
