Position: EHS Center Based Manager

Education Services Coordinator

Responsible for coordination of all aspects of the Education Services Area at the South Philadelphia Site, including program development, assessment & monitoring of the quality of the education services, implementing the curriculum, and the Early Head Start Framework for the Home-Based and Center-Based programs.

Programmatic Consultations

  • Serves as a key member of the Education Service Area Team and participates in all Education Team Meetings
  • Supports as a point person between the South Center-Based Program and the EHS Service Areas
  • Attends and participates in all monthly meetings including but not limited to Supervision for self and Lead Teachers, Service Area Meetings, Management Team Meetings, Teacher Meetings, Lead Teacher Meetings, Socialization planning meetings and Site Team Meetings.
  • Supports and attends School Readiness Task Force Meetings with counterparts to ensure children's progress toward school readiness goals.
  • Ensures adherence to Head Start Performance Standards and high quality of educational services by conducting classroom observations for South Philadelphia classroom teachers.
  • Strengthens own and staff professional development in collaboration with the Training and Coaching Coordinator.
  • Leads Week of the Young Child Committee with support of the Education Services Area and Lead Teachers and Lead Advocates. Holds monthly meetings to prepare for the Week of the Young Child.
  • Monitors DHS and Keystone Stars paperwork and updates as needed. Monitors DHS and Keystone Star Policies and implements updates as needed.
  • Provides orientation for the Education Service Area for all EHS Staff at the South Philadelphia Site.
  • Develops service area guidelines, policies, and procedures in keeping with Head Start Performance Standards and reviews annually.
  • Supports all Service Areas with implementation and follow-up of Policies and Procedures.
  • Monitors and renews yearly subscription to Teaching Strategies Gold/Smart Teach for South Philadelphia and Partner Site Classrooms.
  • Supports South Philadelphia in classroom coverage, as needed.

Center Base Services

  • Takes the lead on running the EHS South Child Care Classrooms.
  • Recruits and hires for the Lead Teacher position and conducts annual appraisals.
  • Provides direct supervision and support to the Lead Teachers, advising and orienting them in the oversight of lesson planning, curriculum implementation, material ordering, and developmentally appropriate practice.
  • Supports Lead Teachers in orienting new teachers to health and safety policies and ensures that new staff implements these practices in the classroom.
  • Follows up with Lead Teachers to ensure that they are in the classroom supporting, teaching, and modeling appropriate work practices.
  • Ensures Lead Teachers conduct monthly classroom observations.
  • Ensures ongoing communication between Teachers and Lead Teachers throughout the parent concerns process and ensures that concerns are shared with FEA/PEAs, the Director of Social Services, and the Director of Education.
  • Attends and prepares for monthly South Philadelphia Teacher meeting with Lead Teachers.
  • Reviews all ASQ and ICDP forms for all teachers.

Home-Based Services

  • Supports yearly Socialization Planning with the Lead Advocates and Advocates in South Philadelphia.
  • Supports Home-Based Advocates, Lead Advocates, and FEAs in the guidance of Education services.
  • Reviews Parents as Teacher, ASQ, and ICDP forms for Home-Based Advocates and FEAs.
  • Conducts yearly home visit observations for each Advocate, Lead Advocate, and FEA.
  • Attends Group Socializations at South Philadelphia bi-monthly to provide feedback to Advocates and attends Socialization Planning Meetings to ensure age-appropriate activities are planned. Orders age-appropriate materials for Socialization.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Understanding MCC's mission, goals, and objectives and ability to work independently with a high level of energy and contribute as part of a larger team.
