Medical Assistant – Instructor (Part‑time, Mornings/Evenings) – Portage, MI.
Job OverviewRoss Education Holdings, Inc. seeks experienced Medical Assistants to serve as fully trained instructors for year‑round scheduled classes. Morning classes run Monday–Friday 8:30–1:00, and evening classes run Monday–Thursday 5:30–10:00. The position is campus based at Portage, MI, and does not qualify for remote work.
Responsibilities- Teach in the Medical Assisting classroom with a maximum of 24 students, covering clinical and administrative skills.
- Deliver lectures and demonstrations using Ross lesson plans and curriculum.
- Serve as Primary Scheduled Instructor and, when needed, as Secondary Instructor, teaching assistant, or substitute.
- Conduct sessions that last 4½ hours, either in day or evening sessions.
- Work part‑time hours, typically 9–27 hours per week.
- Participate in year‑round classes and meet scheduling demands in both morning and evening shifts.
- 3+ years’ experience in the medical‑assistant field and formal training from an accredited institution.
- Must be able to obtain a national certification as medical assistant. Individuals without formal education must have a minimum of 5+ years of experience in the medical field and a national certification.
- Interest in teaching or prior teaching experience.
- Flexibility and a passion to learn and grow.
- Sufficient ability to stand for extended periods, move within the building, and facilitate student participation; reasonable accommodations may be made.
- Sufficient visual and auditory ability to operate computer equipment, use telephone, read materials, and use classroom/office equipment; reasonable accommodations may be made.
- Use current technology to maintain student records.
- Communicate effectively in classroom and individual settings.
- Know the subjects taught and use the Ross curriculum effectively.
- Adapt quickly in a fast‑paced work environment.
- Maintain credentials and/or licensure within expected time frames.
- Demonstrate professionalism in manner, dress, and conduct as a representative of Ross.
- Remain objective and treat all students equally.
- Pay close attention to detail and commit to quality.
- Adhere to Ross Code of Conduct and Professional Ethics.
- Prior teaching or formal tutoring experience using a developed curriculum is preferred.
