The Division of Innovation & Education Excellence team is recruiting to fill an Education Administrator 2 located in Anchorage or Juneau!

What you will be doing:

In this role, you will:

Provide statewide leadership, management, and operational oversight for Alaska’s Early Learning programs and Alaska Reads Act initiatives.

Direct the implementation, coordination, and continuous improvement of early learning and literacy programs in alignment with departmental priorities, state and federal requirements, and evidence-based practices.

Manage program budgets, grants, contracts, procurement, travel, and other fiscal and administrative activities to support effective and compliant program operations.

Supervise assigned staff by setting priorities, coordinating workloads, supporting employee development, evaluating performance, and ensuring accountability for program outcomes.

This position may be based in either the Juneau or Anchorage office and offers flexible work options, including in-office, hybrid, or remote work, depending on operational needs. The work is primarily office-based and involves regular collaboration with program staff, administrative support teams, and department partners supporting statewide literacy and early learning programs.

Who we are looking for:

We are interested in candidates who possess some or all of the following position specific competencies:

K-12

Education:

Knowledge of the concepts, principals, theories, methods, and practices of planning, teaching and evaluating an assigned K-12 public education content area. Integrates best practices with subject matter expertise to develop resources, inform policy implementation, provide technical assistance, and support continuous improvement. Provides guidance and consultation to school districts and/or stakeholders while advancing statewide education priorities.

Analytical Thinking/Problem Solving:

Uses a logical, systematic, sequential approach to address problems or opportunities or manage a situation by drawing on one’s knowledge and experience base and calling on other references and resources as necessary.

Project Management:

Knowledge of the principles, methods, or tools for developing, scheduling, coordinating, and managing projects and resources, including monitoring and inspecting costs, work and contractor performance.

Please Note:

This position requires travel to support DEED sponsored events, on-site technical assistance/monitoring, attendance at national conferences and required trainings associated with federal grants; this could equate to 5 to 6 trips or more per year.

Minimum Qualifications

A bachelor's degree;

AND either

1. Two years experience as an Education Specialist 2 or an Education…
