RCC seeks applicants for our Instructional Designer opening. This is a remote, full-time, restricted-classified position, with an excellent benefits package. Continuation of the position is contingent upon funding. Currently, this position is funded for two (2) years and the salary will be $70,000.

The overall objective of the Instructional Designer position is to provide best practice, expert guidance and innovative cross-college course support to faculty in the re-design of traditional semester courses into high-impact, shortened formats focused on student success.

This position collaborates with and provides technical support to faculty in the design and re-design of online, hybrid, and in-person curriculum for this purpose. The incumbent promotes accessible and student-centered learning environments through the application of instructional design best practices, accessibility standards, and emerging technologies. This role serves faculty at three (3) colleges within the Virginia Community College System – Brightpoint, Rappahannock, and Tidewater Community Colleges.

Reporting to the Vice President of Instruction and Student Success at Rappahannock, this fully remote position works equally with all three colleges.

The Instructional Designer assists faculty in evaluating course effectiveness through assessment and student feedback. The incumbent also manages the coordination and implementation of technology and best practices into course materials, and provides training to faculty on the use of new education and instructional technologies. In addition, this position is responsible for the professional development of faculty, specifically in the areas of practical strategies for the design of high-quality accelerated courses and overcoming the challenges of teaching students with diverse academic readiness levels in compressed academic terms.
