Substitute Teacher

Cardinal Ritter College Prep Academy is seeking dependable and enthusiastic Substitute Teachers to provide instructional support in the absence of regular classroom teachers. The Substitute Teacher is responsible for maintaining a positive and productive learning environment, implementing lesson plans, supervising students, and ensuring classroom continuity while upholding the school's mission and values.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Follow lesson plans and instructional materials provided by the classroom teacher.
  • Maintain a safe, orderly, and respectful classroom environment.
  • Take attendance and monitor student behavior throughout the school day.
  • Provide instruction and academic support to students as directed.
  • Adapt teaching methods as needed to meet the diverse learning needs of students.
  • Supervise students during classroom activities, transitions, lunch periods, and other assigned duties.
  • Communicate effectively with school administrators, teachers, and staff regarding classroom activities and student concerns.
  • Leave detailed notes regarding completed assignments, classroom behavior, and any significant incidents.
  • Enforce school policies, procedures, and expectations consistently.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by school administration.
Qualifications

High school diploma required; associate's or bachelor's degree preferred. Previous experience working with children or in an educational setting preferred. Ability to manage a classroom effectively and maintain student engagement. Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills. Ability to follow written and verbal instructions. Commitment to fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment. Classroom management and student supervision skills. Ability to work with students from diverse backgrounds and learning abilities.

Professionalism, flexibility, and adaptability in a dynamic school environment. Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills. Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment.

Ability to stand and walk for extended periods. Ability to supervise students in classrooms, hallways, cafeterias, and outdoor areas. Ability to lift and carry instructional materials and classroom supplies as needed.
