First-Year Evaluator
The University of Iowa Office of Admission is hiring a dedicated First Year Evaluator (100% appointment). Are you someone who likes to work behind the scenes but still play a role in the bigger picture? If you enjoy analyzing data to drive decision-making and have an interest in guiding and advising prospective students on the admissions process - the First-Year Evaluator position with the Office of Admissions at the University of Iowa may be the role for you!
In this position you will also have the opportunity to:
- Evaluate and process first-year student applications to determine if admission requirements are met.
- Determine appropriate decisions to admit, not-admit, defer, deny.
- Manage select workflow statuses for first-year applicants, monitor, and request missing/needed credentials.
- Provide information to prospective students and families, applicants, high school counselors, current and former students and other constituents concerning admission and application materials, admission requirements, and the admission and enrollment process.
- Develop and maintain working knowledge of the transfer course equivalence database.
- Assist in the development of processing changes to improve and enhance the processing and evaluation of first-year student applications.

Required Qualifications:
A bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and related experience or expertise. Some experience (typically 6 months to 1 year) working with high school or undergraduate students in an advising or couseling capacity. Some (typically 6 months – 1 year) administrative or program experience, or multiple related internships for a recent college graduate. Some experience in a supervision role (typically 6 months – 1 year) Competencies

Demonstrates a basic proficiency level in the following competencies:
Sound business ethics and consistently adheres to and promotes the values and principles in all business and personal transactions. Knowledge of and the ability to analyze data fully and accurately to reach productive decisions. Knowledge and application of the communication techniques and relationship building skills that develop the ability to work with a variety of individuals and groups in a constructive and collaborative manner.
Demonstrates a working proficiency level in the following competencies:
The knowledge and proficiency of commonly used office support software including Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Word. Desirable
Qualifications:
Experience evaluating admission applications, materials, including evaluation of credit and academic records. Demonstrates a working knowledge of University of Iowa policies and procedures.

This position is eligible for hybrid work (four days on campus, one day working remotely) within Iowa and will require a work arrangement form to be completed upon the start of your employment. Per policy, work arrangements will be reviewed annually, and must comply with the remote work program and related policies and employee travel policy when working at a remote location .
The University will not sponsor any work authorization for this role. Anticipated Hiring Salary Range: $43,240 – $45,000 with the top of the range reserved for exceptionally qualified applicants. This position includes a comprehensive and competitive benefits package.
