Arts Educator. In this position, you’ll support workshops at events like Canal Convergence and the Scottsdale Family Arts Fest and lead programs and tours s flexible position can work around your schedule and includes weekdays, evenings, and weekends.

Here is what you will get to do:
  • Provide programming support for SALI initiatives including but not limited to events, festivals, overnight retreats and workshops.
  • Facilitate learning opportunities related to curriculum and exhibitions at Scottsdale Museum of Contemporary Art, provide matinee support at Scottsdale Center for the Performing Arts, lead workshops or public programs, and/or support teaching artists leading workshops.
  • Communicate effectively with key staff:
    Community Engagement Manager, SALI Coordinators and curators, SMoCA staff and curators, patron services staff, and security.
  • Assist in maintaining all activities, materials, spaces, and other programmatic elements. e.g., supply management; studio prep, clean-up, and organization; event documentation, reporting, etc.
  • Track visitor attendance, comments, and program evaluations. Ensure all event attendees leave with a memorable and positive experience.
Here is what you will need to be successful:

Education:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in related field; art, education, museum education, museum studies, or theater.
Experience:
  • 6+ months of related experience: learners of all ages, abilities and backgrounds and/or leading, organizing and teaching groups.
    Abilities:
  • Understanding of curriculum standards.
  • Strong organizational skills, ability to work under general direction with a team environment, ability to think on your feet and respond to visitor needs, creativity and problem solving skills
  • Strong communication skills both written and verbal including public speaking in small groups
  • Flexibility, and effective time management skills.
  • Frequent sitting with regular periods of extending standing, walking.
  • Use of hands to finger, handle or feel, reach with hands and arms.
  • Ability to talk and hear, taste, smell.
  • Ability to lift/move up to 25 lbs.
  • Specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral, and depth perception.
  • Occasionally exposed to outdoor weather conditions.
  • Due to work requirements will need to work on evenings and weekends as scheduled or needed.
Bonus if you possess the following:
  • First Aid/CPR certification
  • Familiarity with contemporary art and SMoCA
