Job SummarySt. Stephen Protomartyr Catholic School is seeking a faith-filled and enthusiastic Catechist Aide to support the religious education program and assist students in their spiritual formation. The Catechist Aide works collaboratively with catechists, teachers, clergy, and staff to foster a welcoming Catholic learning environment where students grow in their knowledge of the faith and relationship with Jesus Christ.
- Assist catechists and religion teachers with lesson preparation and classroom activities.
- Support the delivery of age-appropriate Catholic faith formation instruction.
- Help maintain a positive, respectful, and engaging classroom environment.
- Prepare instructional materials, handouts, and faith-based activities.
- Assist with prayer services, liturgies, sacramental preparation, and religious events.
- Supervise students during religious education activities and transitions as needed.
- Reinforce Catholic values, teachings, and moral development through daily interactions.
- Help track attendance, maintain records, and organize classroom resources.
- Communicate effectively with staff, volunteers, and families regarding program needs.
- Perform additional duties as assigned to support the mission of the school and parish.
- Practicing Catholic committed to the teachings and mission of the Catholic Church preferred.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; coursework in theology, education, or related fields preferred.
- Experience working with children in educational, parish, or ministry settings preferred.
- Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment.
- Willingness to complete diocesan safe environment and background check requirements.
- Ability to work collaboratively with students, staff, volunteers, and parents.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, and move throughout the classroom and school environment.
- Ability to lift and carry instructional materials and supplies up to 25 pounds.
- Ability to actively supervise and assist students during classroom and school activities.
