Overview

The Adult Education Teacher, Mathematics will be responsible for providing virtual instruction to adult learners enrolled in Tri-Star Virtual Academy's Adult Education Program, delivering standards-aligned Mathematics instruction as needed to support enrollment demand, course-load coverage, and program scheduling needs. This is an hourly, non-exempt position with no guaranteed number of hours; assignments are scheduled based on program need and learner enrollment.

Duties
  • Deliver virtual, standards-aligned Mathematics instruction to adult learners in accordance with Tri-Star Virtual Academy's Adult
  • Education curriculum and Tennessee adult education program requirements.
  • Develop and deliver lesson plans, assignments, and assessments appropriate to adult learners' skill levels and goals (e.g., high school completion, HiSET/GED preparation, or career and college readiness).
  • Monitor and document learner attendance, progress, and outcomes in the Academy's learning management and student information systems.
  • Provide timely, constructive feedback on assignments and assessments, and adjust instruction to address individual learner needs.
  • Communicate regularly and professionally with learners regarding expectations, progress, and available support resources.
  • Participate in required training, professional development, and virtual staff meetings as scheduled.
  • Maintain accurate instructional records in compliance with Tennessee Department of Education adult education reporting requirements and program funding source requirements (e.g., WIOA Title II, where applicable).
  • Report learner concerns (attendance, academic, or welfare) in a timely manner.
  • Comply with all Stellar Virtual and Tri-Star Virtual Academy policies, including data privacy (FERPA) and mandated reporter obligations.

Knowledge, Skills & Attributes
  • 3–5 years of experience teaching adult learners, HiSET/GED preparation, preferably in a virtual/online instructional setting.
  • Familiarity with adult learning principles and differentiated instruction strategies.
  • Proven experience working independently with minimal supervision, including the ability to manage a digital task list and maintain a stable remote (home-office) infrastructure.
  • Minimum of 1–2 years of experience using the Google Workspace suite (Docs, Sheets, Slides, Drive, Workspace) in a professional setting.
  • Access to a private, reliable, and secure high-speed internet connection with a minimum of 25 Mbps download and 10 Mbps upload speeds.
  • Proven experience working independently with minimal supervision, including the ability to manage a digital task list and maintain a stable remote (home-office) infrastructure.
  • Minimum of 1–2 years of experience using the Google Workspace suite (Docs, Sheets, Slides, Drive, Workspace) in a professional setting.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate complex ideas via written channels with high clarity and low ambiguity.

Education & Certification Requirements
