Remotely from Massachusetts the School Counselor will work with students to provide academic and social emotional support. In our efforts to engage all students and families in our virtual (yet still human) environment, School Counselor will communicate with learning coaches, students, and parents through use of the telephone, interactive presentation software, and other curriculum tools to support a data based school counseling curriculum and ensure student success.
This is a long term substitute position
Position and ResponsibilitiesThe School Counselor will be responsible for the successful completion of the following tasks:
- -Communicate regularly with students on their caseload surrounding issues of academic success, physical/ social-emotional health, goal setting, post graduate planning, student safety/welfare and skill development both in and out of the classroom.
- -Be an active part of the School Counseling team and specifically collaborate with the 6-8 counseling department in developing programming and activities relevant to the grade band’s needs.
- -Work collaboratively with other teachers to ensure that all students are successfully progressing through the program, that parents/students have a central point of contact, and that questions and concerns are answered and addressed.
- -Support students in instances of child welfare/ mental health concerns and monitor these situations early and often.
- -Assist students in applications to non-MassCA school settings.
- -Ensure that students on IEP and 504 plans are receiving any required school-counseling services.
- -Develop and implement virtual methods of creating and maintaining a “school community”;
- -Other duties as assigned.
This is a long-term substitute assignment scheduled from August 26, 2026 through October 30, 2026, subject to change based on district needs.

Job Requirements- Current DESE License for School Counseling
- Grades 5-12 - -Strong technology skills (especially with Microsoft ® OS and Microsoft ® Office programs)
- -Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
- -Student-focused approach
- -High degree of flexibility
- -Demonstrated ability to work well in fast paced environment
- -Team player track record
- -Willingness/ability to travel on occasion for student outreach and state testing events (may require occasional overnight travel)
