Purpose:

The Education Department provides free classes and support for students from emerging literacy to advanced. Class offerings include in person and online English classes, College Readiness Academy, and supplementary classes, providing students with opportunities to learn about life in Minnesota, prepare for postsecondary education, and engage more broadly in the United States.

The Distance Learning and Remote Testing Coordinator plays the key role of supporting student access and engagement in online learning and assessment services. This position coordinates distance learning opportunities, administers and supports online testing processes, and collaborates across departments to ensure students can successfully participate in educational programming to achieve their academic and career goals.

• Support outreach, recruitment, intake, and orientation efforts that welcome new learners into Education Department programs and prepare them for participation in distance learning and remote testing services.
• Cultivate a welcoming, inclusive, and culturally responsive learning environment where all students feel respected, supported, and empowered to achieve their educational and career goals.
• Develop, and support distance learning opportunities using platforms approved by the MN Department of Education for students that expand access to education, and progress toward their academic, career, and personal goals.
• Coordinate remote standardized testing services for students to ensure students can successfully enroll in programs and track progress for student goals and reporting purposes.
• Empower students to confidently navigate online learning environments and remote testing platforms by providing training, guidance, and ongoing support for distance learning participation and assessment processes.
• Maintain secure, accurate and timely records of student participation, progress, remote testing outcomes, and services to support program effectiveness, student success, and organizational accountability.
• Provide substitute instruction for classes, creating engaging learning experiences that strengthen English language proficiency, digital skills, and workforce readiness.
• Actively participate in organization-wide and team meetings to advance shared goals, strengthen collaboration, and contribute to continuous program improvement.
• Contribute to grant development, reporting, and other resource-building efforts that sustain and expand access to quality education, distance learning, and remote testing opportunities.
• Perform other duties as assigned in support of the organization's mission, strategic priorities, and commitment to student success.

• Bachelor’s degree in Applied Linguistics, Education, Adult Education or a related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Two years of experience in adult basic education, student services, workforce development, program coordination, or a related field.
• Experience supporting online learning, distance education, educational technology, or remote testing environments for adult basic education students.
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively with diverse populations, including English language learners, immigrants, refugees, and adults from a variety of educational backgrounds.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities, maintain accurate records, and meet deadlines.
• Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, videoconferencing platforms, online learning systems, and database management.
