Role DescriptionThe Admissions Counselor is a part‑time, hybrid role based in Aiken, SC, with flexibility for some work‑from‑home tasks. In this role, the counselor supports prospective students and families through the admissions and scholarship process, including responding to inquiries, explaining program options, and guiding them through application requirements. Daily responsibilities include conducting outreach to prospective learners, scheduling and leading information sessions, and maintaining accurate records of contacts and progress in the admissions pipeline.
The counselor collaborates with institutional partners to understand program offerings, deadlines, and scholarship criteria, and communicates this information clearly to applicants. The role also involves follow‑up communication to ensure a positive experience, answer questions, and help applicants make informed enrollment decisions.
- Strong interpersonal communication and general communication skills, with the ability to build trust and rapport with diverse students, families, and institutional partners.
- Customer service experience and skills in handling inquiries, resolving concerns, and supporting individuals through complex processes.
- Sales or outreach background, including comfort with proactive engagement, follow‑up, and meeting enrollment or contact goals.
- Knowledge or experience in education environments, such as admissions, academic advising, or student services.
- Organizational skills to manage multiple applicants, deadlines, and documentation with attention to detail.
- Proficiency with common office software and CRM or admissions systems, or willingness to learn new tools.
- Ability to work independently in a hybrid setting, manage time effectively, and collaborate with a distributed team.
- Preferred:
Experience in college admissions, financial aid, or scholarship advising; associate or bachelor’s degree in Education, Counseling, Communications, or a related field.
