Job Summary

Under the direction of the Associate Dean for Admissions and Student Programs, the Director of Community Engagement and Outreach develops, leads and administers programs that strengthen the School of Veterinary Medicine's engagement with prospective students, educational partners, and the broader community. The position leads DVM pipeline development and outreach initiatives, supports programs that expand access to veterinary career pathways, and develops strategies that foster an inclusive, welcoming, and respectful environment for students, faculty, staff, and residents.

The position also provides guidance and resources to school leadership on community engagement, inclusion, access, and related institutional initiatives.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience.
• Demonstrates advanced level of political and organizational acumen, including experience in maintaining cooperative relationships with schools, universities, community organizations and other institutions.
• Possesses advanced knowledge of practices and strategies that promote inclusion, access, belonging, and engagement within educational and organizational settings.
• Demonstrates advanced skills in gathering, organizing, and analyzing program data; interpreting findings; and developing and communicating recommendations for program improvement.
• Applies excellent interpersonal, active listening, written, and oral communication skills, with the ability to convey complex and sensitive information effectively to individuals and groups from diverse backgrounds.
• Skilled in organizational and project management, with the ability to effectively prioritize competing demands, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and adapt to changing priorities.

• Master's degree in related area.
• Experience with program evaluation and development, including thorough knowledge of organizational policies and procedures; understands how work affects the organization and community.
• Knowledge and understanding of UC guidelines, principles, policies and procedures.

The Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) graduate program is the largest graduate program at UC Davis with an annual enrollment of 620 professional students. The program is consistently ranked as one of the top in the world for veterinary science. The Director of Community Engagement and Outreach is embedded in the Admissions and Student Programs team within the UC Davis Weill School of Veterinary Medicine Dean's Office.

This position will work to broaden and strengthen the applicant pipeline to the Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) graduate program. Additionally, the Director of Community Engagement and Outreach will collaborate with the SVM Director of Academic Human Resources on initiatives that promote inclusion within the academic community and with the Veterinary Medicine Teaching Hospital on programs supporting staff and residents.
